The Board of Supervisors recently approved an Access Agreement with the US Environmental Protection Agency to install new monitoring wells at four locations in Whistlestop Park. The wells will be installed away from the public use areas, allowing the park to remain open for the community. The EPA proposes to use 10 parking spaces to store their equipment in an enclosed fenced in area. The project is scheduled to begin in the week of May 11.

Monitoring wells, installed at the park decades ago, could not be found by the EPA.  Therefore, they will need to install the new wells to monitor volatile organic compounds in groundwater associated with the North Penn Area 5 Site, located in Colmar, PA.
