Join Our Team - Camp First Aid Director

The Camp First Aid Director will be responsible for overseeing the first aid needs of camp during the summer months.  Interacts directly with children, their parents, and camp staff.  Works closely with campers, parents, and other staff members to ensure camper safety.  Often performs work in an outdoor setting where exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position receives direct supervision from the Camp Administrator (if applicable), and occasional direction from the Recreation Director. 

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This position does not supervise others.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer first aid treatments to campers and staff members in case of injury or illness
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide appropriate medical care
  • Maintain inventory and supplies of first aid equipment and supplies
  • Document all incidents and treatments provided
  • Communicate effectively with camp management and parents/guardians as necessary
  • Keeps the first aid supplies stocked or reports to the Camp Administrator when something is low
  • Secures camper’s prescriptions and instructions for use
  • Maintain an emergency call number list for all campers
  • Maintain a clean and organized first aid station
  • Attend all required training sessions and meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director

JOB STANDARDS:  (Minimum qualification to perform essential functions)

  • Successfully pass all background checks, including child abuse and criminal check.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Organize and prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Possess creativity and enthusiasm.
  • Be able to understand, follow and explain standard procedures in the organization.
  • Required to travel between the Community and Recreation Center building and the camp site.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including some hands-on physical work. 

This is medium work that requires sitting, reaching at waist level, and performing fine manipulation and repetitive motions frequently; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately and quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity (near vision frequently; mid and far vision, depth perception, color perception, and field of vision occasionally) is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities;

JOB LOCATION:  (Place where work is performed)
Montgomery Elementary School and Montgomery Township Community and Recreation Center and field trip venues

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field (nursing, EMT, lifeguard, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of first aid procedures and treatment
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of camp activities, preferred.
  • Successful results upon completion of pre-employment background checks, assessments or tests, as applicable, required.
  • Ability to communicate and perform well in an interview and demonstrate proven skills and abilities, required.  

Schedule will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from June 22nd through August 14th.

Rate of pay- $20/hr.
