Water Main Replacement at Knapp Elementary School - Week of June 17

road-work-signDuring the week of June 17, North Penn Water Authority's contractor will begin the installation of the water main on Knapp Road starting at Norway Drive and ending at Clear Spring and Frederick Roads. The route will run along Knapp Road to the entrance of Knapp Elementary School at Valley Brook Drive, and continue to Frederick Road in Lansdale Borough and Montgomery Township.

The work will take place for approximately eight weeks with an estimated completion date of August 16. This water main work is being completed in coordination with the North Penn School District to prevent impacting school operations.

Crews will be working in the area from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will be in effect during main installation, and there may be lane restrictions in effect on Knapp Road for brief periods of time during the construction period. To the fullest extent possible, every effort will be made to keep unobstructed access open to local residents, and emergency vehicles will have access to the area. Once installed, the main will be flushed, sampled and then placed into service.

We thank you for your patience during this time.

Defensive Walking: Stay Safe on the Streets

Don't Walk Sign
When walking along a roadway, be sure to use common sense and practice these tips to decrease your risk of being struck in traffic.
  • Wear bright colored clothing with reflective markings whenever you go out for a walk. At night or at twilight, be sure to bring a flashlight.
  • Make eye contact with the driver. Wave or nod to acknowledge that you two have seen each other.
  • Never assume because you are in the crosswalk that the driver will stop.
  • Anticipate what a distracted driver might do.
  • When walking where there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
Eliminate the danger when you cross at an intersection:
  • Do not step off into an intersection as soon as the light turns green. Drivers waiting to make a right turn on red are focusing on traffic and do not notice a pedestrian stepping off the curb.
  • Before proceeding look, left, right and then left again before crossing the street.
  • When crossing on a multiple lane roadway, stop when you come to the end of the first car and look to see if another car is approaching. Be sure that the driver sees you. If not, allow the vehicle to pass before continuing.
  • When standing on the corner when the "Don't Walk" signal is flashing, wait until the walk signal appears. If you are already in the crosswalk and the light starts to flash, continue to the other side.
