Business Card Exchange: May 14th

3844683834_251b276e2eMontgomery Township and the Business Development Partnership would like to invite you to our annual Business Card Exchange on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM in the Montgomery Township Building. Network with Township businesses, speak with Township Officials on taxes, permits, and upcoming projects, and enjoy light refreshments.


Gain Experience and Have Fun being a Counselor in Training this Summer with Montgomery Township!

SunShineDuties include shadowing and assisting the Counselors in daily activities such as sports, arts & crafts, games and more, with participants of pre-school through elementary age; ideal position to gain hands-on experience. Applicants must be 14-15 years of age during the entire time of the program and the position is unpaid. Applications should be returned to 2013CIT@montgomerytwp.org or the address listed above.

Rain Garden Design, Installation, and Maintenance Workshop

rain garden2The Watershed Alliance of Southeastern Pennsylvania is hosting a rain garden design, installation and maintenance workshop to help homeowners become better informed about the construction of gorgeous (and environmentally beneficial!) rain gardens. The course will be taught by Experienced Water Resources Staff from Rutgers Cooperative Extension.

Training will address: 
  • Finding a good site 
  • Making a design 
  • Selecting native plants 
  • Constructing and maintenance requirements 
Where: Huntington Valley Library, 625 Red Lion Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA, just across the street from Lower Moreland Township Administration Building. 

When: Wednesday, May 15th, 9AM to 4:30PM

Cost: FREE, but please feel free to bring and share examples of rain garden project locations and/or what you have learned from an existing project.

Sign up by May 15th for the Bronx Zoo Trip

bronx zooGo wild on this day-long adventure to the Bronx Zoo, the largest metropolitan zoo in the United States. The zoo features 265 acres of award-winning attractions including Tiger Mountain, Jungle World, the Bug Carousel, Wild Asia Monorail, "Madagascar!" and MORE! 

When: Saturday, June 1st 7:30AM -4:30PM

Cost: $62 for Adults (13+) and $57 for Children (12 and under) 

Includes: Round trip transportation by motor coach and a Total Experience ticket

All meals are "on your own". We will be departing Montgomery Township at 7:30 am and the bus will depart for home at 4:30 pm.


Come Paint "Starry Night" with Montgomery Township

paintbrushesLet out your inner Van Gogh! Van Gogh has become a favorite artist of the 20th and 21st century, known for his intense colors and active brushstrokes. In our class, we'll create our own Starry Night: the rich, dark colors of our rolling hills with tall Cyprus trees are a strong contrast to the bright moon and stars. Pastels are the perfect media to reflect the vibrant colors and wind blowing through the starry night.

Time: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm 
Place: Montgomery Township Community Room

Baby Boomers and Beyond! 

connectingJoin other Boomers (50+) for a program and get-together the third Thursday of the month from 1PM - 3PM. Each afternoon will feature an interesting program or movie as well as free time to play games, work on crafts or just socialize with others. We encourage you to bring a snack and beverage with you to enjoy. 

Age: 50+ 
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm 
Cost: FREE

Police Week is Coming Up!

police badge2In celebration of National Police Week, the Montgomery Township Police Department will be hosting a special presentation at the Montgomery Mall on Saturday, May 18th from 10AM to 4 PM.

Activities include:
- Face Painting
- Child Identification Fingerprinting
- Canine Demonstrations (12PM and 2PM)
- Bomb Squad Robot Demonstrations (1PM)
- Interactive Display Tables
- Vehicle Displays Outside the Mall

300th tileTo commemorate the Township's 300th Anniversary, we have special tiles made by the Clay Rat Studio in Souderton. With only 300 tiles made, and costing a mere 300 dimes ($30) each, you can decorate your kitchen, patio, or garden with a gorgeous new addition! They are available in the Recreation Office in the Township Building.

Summer Event Series is Heating Up with the Weather

Summer Concert SeriesStarting Thursday, June 20th, Montgomery Township will kick off its 2013 Summer Event Series with a dazzling performance by Unforgettable. The concert runs 7PM- 8:15PM. Summer events will take place at the Gazebo Park, located behind the Township Building at 1001 Stump Road in Montgomeryville.
