Did you know you can respectfully retire your flag at the Montgomery Township Building?

American Flag Retirement Box Presented to Montgomery Township.

The Patriotic Order Sons of America Washington Camp #523 of Eagleville donated an American Flag Retirement Box to Montgomery Township during the Board of Supervisors Meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

The Patriotic Order Sons of America is the oldest patriotic organization in the United States, and thanks to Washington Camp #523, the Montgomery Township building now has a place for the public to properly dispose of their worn American Flags. Montgomery Township is the sixth municipal building to be presented with this special box. The box will be available in the Township building lobby during normal office hours, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, or anytime in the evening during Township meetings or programs.

There is an American Flag retirement ceremony held each year by the Boy Scout Troop #105 of Schwenksville to retire the collected flags in a proper fashion. Three thousand flags were properly retired last year, which demonstrates the need for these important American Flag Retirement Boxes. The public is always welcome to attend these ceremonies.
