Car Seat Checks

The Montgomery Township Police Department provides residents with the opportunity to receive instruction on the proper method and procedure for installing children’s car seats.  This service is provided by Department personnel certified in Child Passenger Safety.


Canine Demonstrations

The Montgomery Township Police Department Canine Unit provides demonstrations to school and civic groups. During these demonstrations the handlers introduce the canines to the public and demonstrate the abilities of canine for law enforcement. 


Citizens Police Academy

Members of the police department in conjunction with the Community Policing Unit conduct an annual Citizens Police Academy consisting of a ten-week program that is designed to educate the community about the operations of the Police Department.


Child Fingerprinting

The Montgomery Township Police Department will provide parents/guardians with the opportunity to have their children fingerprinted and photographed for identification purposes. Upon completion, residents are provided with a copy of their child's fingerprints and photograph.


Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)

DARE is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children at the elementary education level how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. Members of the Department presented the DARE program to over 200 5th grade students at Bridle Path Elementary, Montgomery Elementary, and Mary, Mother of the Redeemer School.


Junior Police Academy

Since 1998, the Montgomery Township Police Department has sponsored an annual Junior Police Academy as a way for officers to foster positive relationships with children in our community and introduce them to a wide variety of careers within the emergency services field. 


National Night Out

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event held on the first Tuesday of August to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie. In 2014, Montgomery Township’s National Night Out was held at Target in the Montgomery Square Shopping Center. Activities include various demonstrations by emergency service personnel, giveaways, food, and prizes.

Prescription Drug Drop-off

The department participates in Montgomery County's Prescription Drug Disposal Program in order to help provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the community about the potential for abuse of medications. Unwanted prescription drugs can be dropped of to the designated drop-off box located in the Police Department lobby 24/7. 


Police Week Celebration

In 1962, President Kennedy declared the 3rd week of May as Police Week, paying special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The Montgomery Township Police Department conducts a one-day celebration that includes child fingerprinting, giveaways, equipment displays, and demonstrations by our Canine Unit.


Security Surveys

As a service to our residents and business community the Montgomery Township Police Department provides a Security Survey at no cost. The Survey addresses ways to improve the physical security of your property, discuss crime prevention strategies and collect emergency contact information. 


Station Tours

Montgomery Township Police Department welcomes civic and student groups to tour our police station. Tours learn about the responsibilities of the station, Department personnel, and learn about some of the equipment the officers carry. Tours are offered by appointment only.


Public Seminars

As a service to our community the Montgomery Township Police Department provides public seminars to address pressing issues and concerns relative to topics and trends in law enforcement.
