Board of Supervisors Tackles Budget in Tough Economy with No Tax Increase!
Please note Budget Workshops will take place at 6PM beginning on Wednesday, October 28.
Despite the difficult economic conditions of the past two years, Montgomery Township remains in a strong financial condition." The Township has a long history of operating on a fiscally conservative basis and benefits from a diversified tax base and prudent financial management has allowed for the accumulation of reserves which has helped buffer the Township against the economic downturn during this crisis," said Michael J. Fox Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.As of January, 1, 2010, the Township projects combined Operating and Capital Reserve Fund Balances of over $18 million.
"It is the Board's intent to closely scrutinize the projected revenues and proposed expenditures and adopta balanced budget with no tax increase to the residents and businesses, while still providing the essential municipal services to the community," said Robert J. Birch, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
Montgomery Township has also been fortunate to receive over $350 million from the Federal and State Government for Transportation Improvements including the Route 463 Widening Project and Route 202 Parkway."We are proud that our Township is the recipient of these funds, which is the most that any municipality has received in the entire state of Pennsylvania," said Jeffrey W. McDonnell, Township Supervisor.
The Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors are currently holding budget workshops for the 2010 Budget.Residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming budget meetings.Below is the schedule of the remaining Budget Meetings:
