Montgomery Township levies various Act 511 taxes to provide revenue for basic government services. The Business Tax Office is responsible for the administration and collection of these taxes. The Business Tax Office is also responsible for the registration of deeds.

A tax is imposed upon all manner and forms of entertainment which takes place within the jurisdiction of Montgomery Township. This includes concerts, carnivals, exhibitions, athletic contests, games, golf driving and miniature golf ranges, country clubs, sport exhibitions were a monetary charge of any form is obtained from the general public.
The Business Privilege Tax is imposed upon all trades, occupations and professions in which there is offered any service to the general public and the rental of property and equipment. The Mercantile Tax is imposed upon dealers or vendors of goods, wares and merchandise.

The EMS Tax is imposed upon each individual engaged in any occupation in the township. It is the duty of the employer to deduct the tax of $10 from each employee in his employ whether the employee is paid by salary, wages or commission and whether or not part of all services are performed within the township.
Anyone wishing to establish a new business in Montgomery Township must contact the Business Tax Office to obtain the necessary forms and information and to make application for a business license prior to commencing business.
Montgomery Township requires that all transfers of real estate within the township register the deed at the Business Tax Office prior to its recording with the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds.
